Meet our Physician

Adam Ellison, MD

Board Certification

  • Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Ellison is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowships in both sports medicine and shoulder & elbow surgery. He focuses on treating patients with shoulder and elbow issues, offering surgical, non-surgical and minimally invasive procedures to help relieve pain and/or recover from injuries. Dr. Ellison also treats knee and hip conditions commonly found in athletes, weekend warriors and anyone with well used joints.

Dr. Ellison earned his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University. His engineering mind served him well at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester, MN, where his research included work in the Mayo Biomechanics Laboratory comparing different devices used in proximal femoral osteotomies (surgery to correct upper thigh bone alignment) in pediatric patients. He also worked in the Mayo Clinic Tissue Engineering Lab and created 3D scaffolds from a biodegradable polymer for potential use in future bone or joint reconstruction procedures.

Dr. Ellison did his surgical internship at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, completed his residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC and then went on to complete his two fellowships: Orange County Sports Medicine Fellowship in Irvine, CA, and Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow Centre Fellowship in Melbourne, Australia.
When Dr. Ellison is not putting patients back together, he’s putting woodstrip canoes together or enjoying other woodworking projects, playing basketball, tennis and volleyball, and spending time with his family in the great Alaska outdoors.
